Appearance: Isengrim is a great, dark-furred wolf, standing almost five feet tall at his shoulder. His fur is primarily dark grey, with black tufts on his elbows, tips of his ears, tail tip, and running in a prominent ridge down his spine from the base of his skull to the base of his tail. His belly is a lighter shade of grey, while silvery fur has begun to appear on the end of his muzzle. His eyes are a bright green color and lack pupils, and darker, verdant green markings adorn his face, running atop his muzzle to above his eyes, while separate markings sit beneath. These markings glow with their own light when he uses his magic. His left foreleg is missing, and has been replaced by a wooden one, the color of dark pine, rough-textured and resembling intertwined vines, but otherwise strongly resembling a wolf's leg.
Personality: Often short-tempered and gruff, he's not one to devote much time to thinking, preferring action. However, while not the smartest wolf around, he's quite clever when it comes to practical decisions, and a highly observant, aggressive fighter. When provoked or insulted, he's prone to lashing out physically. While he's generally loyal to whoever leads his pack but lacking in enthusiasm, if they truly manage to win him over, they'd find he would be loyal even unto death. Around those who have managed to befriend him, he's open and outgoing. He harbors a general dislike for humanoids.
Skills/Abilities: One of those rare direwolves with an affinity for an element other than darkness, Isengrim is strongly attuned with earth, to the point where he was able to craft a new leg for himself when he lost one during a Trigger release. This leg has allowed him to physically connect with his surroundings by extending root-like tendrils into the ground. When 'planted' like this, his awareness extends for a long ways, and he can control plants and cause them to grow wherever his senses extend. When not planted, he can still control the nearby earth, provided he can see it. If needed, he can cause the vine-like tendrils of his leg to extend over his entire body to form a thick, tough armor. Like all direwolves, he can unleash a deadly Trigger.
Weaknesses/Flaws: When 'planted' he is completely immobilized, and when he un-plants himself, he will be momentarily disoriented as he adjusts to seeing through his own eyes rather than through the earth. His temperamental nature can be used against him by a clever enough opponent, and if he does cover himself in armor, his speed and agility would both suffer.
History: As a pup, he was captured by humans, and sold to a band of bandits who used him as a guard dog for their lair, keeping him chained up for years, and only giving him enough food to survive. But, despite that, they couldn't keep him from growing, and one day he discovered the chain was too weak to hold him. He broke free, and slaughtered the bandits, harboring a general resentment of all humanoids as a result of having been effectively enslaved by them.
He wandered into the wild, drawn by old memories, and his earth-senses, back to where he lived as a pup, only to find the place had been deserted for years as humanoids encroached. He flew into a rage and hunted them down or drove them off. When a hunting party ambushed him, he Triggered and slaughtered them, but lost his left foreleg in the process, and severely weakened.
After he recovered, he drew upon the earth to replace his lost leg, and gained a new-found wariness about drawing upon his Trigger. Having no reason to stay in the area, he wandered off, intent on finding a new pack to integrate into.
