Name: Piety
Species: Kitsune; 5-Tail
Gender: Female
Soft pale lilac locks cascade down this 5'5” light-skinned beauty's thin-framed form, clad in a pure white miko robe lined with soft, navy blue along the edges – the tie being with a silver sash. A gentle gaze settles upon you with her cloudy-blue eyes – her lips barely parting as she whispers words of comfort and a request to follow her off the mountain. Her fingertips are like ice.

Of note are the silver-white furred fox ears protruding from her head of hair, as well as the five similarly colored velvety tails that dance behind her wherever she walks.

She wears a silver necklace in the shape an odd symbol - a set of four slots - two of which are sealed haphazardly by silver, one of which is an empty slot, and bottom occupied by her soulgem starball.

She often carries a pastel parasol and folding fan, especially when venturing off the mountain, in order to fend off the heat and sun.

Short sword: Piety is decent with a short sword in combat, and keeps her blade hidden in her parasol, so she is armed at all times. Although skilled, she has rarely had to use this in actual combat, let alone to actually kill.

Ice Magic: Piety is skilled with ice magic, and makes the wintery winds of the Darklights in a localized area dance to her whims. Generally, she uses these powers to temporarily stop any snowstorms as to clear the way for travelers as to guide them proper, but she can also use this for direct combat. Her magic tends to lack raw-destruction potential, and focuses more on incapacitating, eluding, or tricking opponents, including freezing limbs, blinding them with blizzards, freezing traps, or creating large ice walls to impede advancing predators.

Blood of Sister, Chill of Death: Should her little sister be put in danger (or worse, die), Piety can tap into hidden reserves of reiatsu - tapping into this power greatly enhances her magic's potential for destruction, but also may end up killing her. She may be able to learn to tap into these powers safely, but only after a few more tails.

Healing Magic: Piety is also skilled at purifying and healing individuals. What she cannot handle with magic, she can handle with training as a healer. Even should a person be on the brink of death, she can freeze them in order to transport them to somewhere where they can better get help.

Illusions: Piety's illusions are top notch so long as she's in an area that has lower temperature – equivalent to a kitsune two tails higher. However, heat and fire tend to mess with the illusions she creates. As she gains more tails, these illusions will be able to endure fire and heat better.

Heatsick: While Piety is not 'weak' to fire, excessive exposure to heat can make her sick due to lack of exposure to it. Even slightly warmer than normal springtime climes can make her feel a little under the weather.

Willfully Ignorant: Piety refuses to see the outside world as anything except corrupt and evil, although she does not condemn those that choose this lifestyle. This essentially ensures she is in a state of constant culture shock whenever she ventures off the mountains (if ever).

Born on the Darklights away from civilization, Piety was raised by her overprotective father and mother, who feared their offspring venturing off the mountains until they were guarded against the evils of the world, along with her younger sister.

However, one day, Li was kidnapped by demons seeking to sell her into slavery. And Piety left with her parents to go rescue their younger sister with the aid of some pirates – family friends who Piety's parents trusted. These pirates often relied on Piety's parents to shelter them from the authorities, as a long-standing relationship between the captain's ancestors and her parents.

They were successful, but at a cost. Father was killed, and mother was gravely injured. On her deathbed, she made a final plea:

Stay on the Darklights, and make no contact with the outside world with the exception of the duties she was shown to do.

The pirates were to protect them at all costs.

Piety's duties were to guide travelers across the mountains, ensuring no one died, as well as to occasionally hide the pirate crew from would be authorities. And while she made fast friends and was a great host to the pirates, she often chided them for telling stories to curious little Li, who was becoming increasingly fascinated by the outside world.

Piety is naturally very nurturing and motherly – perhaps too much so. Oftentimes, she will beg sick travelers to not leave the mountains, and be saddened when they choose to go back to civilization. Some have been tempted by her beauty, but eventually they all leave. Her heart has become hardened against goodbyes. It should be noted that the pirates will go after those that speak of her residence on the mountain.

The relationship between the pirates and Piety became strained when Lilaeni decided to join the pirates. However, Piety understood that these were her family's trusted friends, and gave them her hesitant blessing – with the caveat that if a hair is harmed on Lilaeni's head, she would tear them apart with a furious blizzard of the likes that the world has never seen.

Name: Azizim
Species: Sol'tera
Gender: Male
Great flowing locks of fiery-crimson, orange, and blonde hair flow down the darkly-tanned broad, tiger-stripe-tattooed back of the great Azizim, who built his business from the ground up using his own two work-calloused hands. Lithe, and athletically built with few signs of scrawny weakness on him, Azizim is of keen mind and body, the latter of which he has decorated with tribal tattoos and ornate jewelry.
Archery: While Azizim is of the House of Khu, he does have some talents in martial combat – particularly that of archery. A superb marksman – whether on horseback or on foot, Azizim's archery skills match up to several in the House of Mau.
Skilled Rider: Azizim is a skilled rider on horseback. His favored horse is a hybrid of a Felnovian warhorse and an Arcadian breed – bred to have inexhaustible stamina and be able to weather the desert heat – creating a buckskin warhorse named Daravish. He is equally skilled in rearing horses – some of his employees jokes he treats his horses better than his own children.
Fire/Wind Reiatsu: Being of the House of Khu, Azizim is skilled with wind reiatsu – particularly in predicting the weather, manipulating it slightly to suit his needs (such as calming small storms or redirecting the wind in a localized area). And due to his Mau heritage, he also has power over fire, which he chooses to rarely, if ever, utilize in public.
Sol'teran weakness to night/darkness: Azizim has the general weakness to night that sol'terans have. This is especially harmful or Azizim due to his tendency to become a shut-in with his work - he is known for working himself sick.
Azizim was born to young lady in the House of Khu who had eloped with a young warrior in the House of Mau. This warrior, left unknown to the annals of history, was executed on charges of 'treason'. The girl, pregnant with his seed, was pairbonded off to a Khu nobleman to hide this deed.
As such, Azizim grew up in a home bereft of love – where everything was about public appearance and hiding things. While he never knew of the affair with the Mau warrior, he found split between the pursuits of horseback archery and running business.
This gave him several edges in business. Whereas most noblemen and merchants did not want to get their hands dirty, Azizim prided himself on hard work and labor, often working with his employees and assistants, thereby boosting morale – the secret to his success.
In addition, as Mau treasure strength, he could at least compete well enough to earn the respect of several Mau warriors, combined with his silver tongue. Able to speak on the level of Mau and appear to be genuinely comfortable doing so, this allowed him to build rapport and gain a monopoly on the city of Mau.
There, in the scorching deserts of Ristell, it was he who founded Liquid Gold, which sends out sizeable caravans carrying supplies to dig crucial wells for the cities of Mau and Silensil as well as bearing much needed crops.
Fifty-five years ago he took a lovely Sol'tera pairbond named Layla – the wedding was lavish and grand, given his financial success. In spite of his own family, he attempted to be as warm and loving as he could manage. Though the relationship could be strained, they made it work.
Then, fifty years ago, Ristell was engaged in a war – where Azizim, being loyal to his country, left his pairbond to join the war efforts.
Upon return, he found that she had born him a son: Zahkiel. In shock, he found himself attempting to adapt quickly. Too quickly, in fact.
Unfortunately, when broken children become fathers, they often simply become broken fathers.
Azizim was a harsh authoritarian – rarely showing warmth, and often harshly reprimanding Zahkiel for the smallest infractions - such as being too loud when a guest was present, or making mistakes on exams in school.
Over time, Zahkiel stopped trying, entering into delinquent behaviors, much to Azizim’s chagrin. All the while, Layla was often caught in the middle in the fights between father and son.
It culminated when Zahkiel attempted to steal his prized horse, Daravish. Azizim called the authorities.
“If you catch my son, I do not want to hear what you do with him.”
The relationship between Layla and Azizim has become quite estranged in recent years with the fate of their eldest left unknown. Azizim has dealt with his feelings by busying himself with an unhealthy amount entrepreneurial pursuits, often preferring to stay on the job rather than look his wife in the eye.

Welcome to this month's Monthly Contest! These MCs, as they are known, happen every non-holiday month, and are fun little events or contests that staff put up for you members to partake in. Whoo!

Because alliterations are amazingly awesome.

Have you ever looked in the mirror, and said to yourself 'man I wish I wasn't such a freaking pansy-ass wuss' – well here's your chance to punch the weakness out of you through the ultra-manly fields of writing and art!*

* Please do not actually punch yourself you are loved and we at BTACD do not condone actual punching of our members even by themselves we wuv u

[dohtml]<h1 style="font-size: 25px; border-bottom: solid 2px; margin: 2px; padding-left: 10px;"><b>THE CONTEST!</b></h1>[/dohtml]
As the mandatory dungeon-like prison institution school year ends, we would like to kick off summer with a moment to get that beach body by getting PUMPED UP through being MANLY. YEAH.

For the writing contest, write a BTACDragons based piece about a manly scene – what that means is up to you. Please read rules for further clarification.

For the art contest, same dealio. Pretty straight forward, right? That's because being straight forward is MANLY.

[dohtml]<h1 style="font-size: 25px; border-bottom: solid 2px; margin: 2px; padding-left: 10px;"><b>THE RULES!</b></h1>[/dohtml]
Here are the rules of this MC!
MANLY IS IN THE EYE OF THE BEHOLDER: There are no limitations on what gender the characters may be, nor any hard limits on what actually defines “manly” - this is up to your interpretation – your only goal is to convince me that your piece is a high quality piece of manly
MANLY IS ENHANCED BY MORE MERRY MUSCLES: There will be a jaden bonus for representing other charries in a substantial way in the piece. I will ignore attempts to be inclusive with no effort (say, a name-drop), but each different player you include – NOT CHARRIE – will net you a bonus even if you don't win. Also please ask before using - if we get a complaint and there's no documented proof that they agreed, you're out.
Only one entry per contestant: You may not enter both the art and writing portions – if you have a hybrid piece, you have to choose one.
Please fill out the form below to participate!

Name: Moseth
Species: Xeriin (Myth-Type/Unicorn)
Gender: Male
Appearance: Young, fair, and somewhat androgynous, Moseth's mane is drawn back in long golden locks, well-maintained of in spite of the rags upon his fine form. A spiral ivory horn adorns his forehead between quivering sky blue eyes. The same blonde hairs burst from his tailbone. His clothes have been altered to accommodate for this. The last thing of curious note are his feet - which are not the normal human feet, but hooves, adorned with iron horseshoe guards.

Healing: When Moseth’s horn glows, he is activating his reiatsu. This reiatsu is generally of the light element with trace elements of earth and water, and acts on natural bodily processes, supercharging them and guiding them in repairing themselves. This causes a regeneration effect so long as Moseth is channeling the energy within an arms length. The seriousness of the wound can affect the regeneration process as well as how much magic is required - however, this process can even regrow amputated limbs, depending on the freshness of the wound. Excessive usage of this magic can leave Moseth extremely ill. It should be noted that Moseth has the unrefined ability to tap into his own life force for healing - if it is somehow activated (such as by a loved one being gravely wounded), it can put him into a coma spanning weeks, months, or even outright kill him.

Purification: Moseth’s magic can also purify moderately complex curses, toxins, venom, poisons, and diseases. While something like say a sorcerer-level disease or curse may be out of his ability, something like a snakebite, fever, or some minor ailments are well within his ability to purge.

Wards: Moseth can channel his light magic into wards which last around localized areas no bigger than your average small campsite. These wards prevent magical detection by those of malicious intent, though these wards can be pierced by powerful enough beings. In addition, they do not prevent actually being seen, thought his can be remedied with certain illusion spells.

Illusions: Moseth can also create illusions using light magic. These illusions are usually used to escape from trouble or to distract would be predators, rather than simply to deceive or trick.

Shields/Barriers: Moseth can summon shields of crystalline light to nullify attacks - however, given his own lack of combat experience, these barriers can be easily shattered by a powerful enough attack.

Dreamsage: Moseth has learned the ways of dreamsages from Ning Su. Able to enter a person’s dream, he often attempts to provide calm and tranquility for the younger members of the orphanage, especially those that live with traumatic nightmares from whatever orphaned them in the first place.

Surprisingly Physical Fitness: While Moseth has not refined any of his physicality, a unicorn is closely related to horses, and Moseth himself is granted with swiftness, strength, and endurance of such beasts. This translates more to ‘above average’ rather than any superhuman feats, but should be noted.

Singing: Moseth is shy about it, but has a natural alto/tenor voice and is quite skilled with it. While he tends to stumble when performing, he does tend to sing to himself when he is alone, which can entrance eavesdroppers.

Combat Trauma: Weapons tend to make Moseth cringe and stiffen, hampering his ability to think and act. While his instructors theorize that he may eventually overcome this hindrance, so far their efforts have been highly unsuccessful

Too much TLC: While Moseth’s adeptness with healing is prodigy-levels, he has poor control over it, and often overtaxes himself. This makes him a poor candidate for healing masses, as he often overestimates his own reserves and underestimates his levels of fatigue.

Moseth was born to a songbird skykin xeriin and a deer forestkin xeriin who fell in love, and in their youthful passion, conceived a child. His mother left with the child, attempting to keep her cervine lover safe. However, three years after his birth, a plague happened upon the xeriin settlement, and they sought a cause - something to blame.

Under a sense of guilt, a friend of the family revealed what had happened. And it was believed that these two’s union was what brought about the plague. The cervine male was brutally executed, and the mother was hunted down. But before they could find her, she came down with the plague herself - which only confirmed her guilt in the eyes of her hunters. In spite of being deathly ill, they slaughtered her anyway in front of his four-year old eyes.

Out of a sense of guilt, the family friend made hasty arrangements to have the myth-type xeriin to be brought to the monastery in the Darklight Mountains of the Vystrian realm. Passed from caravan to caravan, he finally arrived to his no home.

Having only known loss due to the violence of those that would reject myth-type xeriin, as well as the suffering people who were also suffering crisis can bring about, he has dedicated himself to preventing violence via assuaging the suffering of others.

A faint, haunting, eerily beautiful melody occasionally reminds him to keep moving forward. A lullaby his mother sang him. The melody echoes again and again. This melody eventually encouraged him to start humming, then singing a small song.

Little horse, wand’ring ‘long the river way
Long since pushed from the herd called home,
Long since the little horse galloped far astray
Whispers of the wind call him home, call him home
Whispers of the wind call the little horse home.
