Hello BTACD! I am here today looking to extend our small pool of official site artists! Want to know more? Read below!
So, you are interested in becoming an official BTACD artist? Good to hear! We need everything from pure digital art (sketches and speedpaints primarily) to pixel art (subspecies, items, the like), to fill out our species, player groups, and overall any art on the website. Getting custom art up is paramount to adding new species and subspecies, as we no longer add them without art! A brief list of what is generally expected is located below:
- maps; digital art (general guidelines/features provided)
- gods; digital art
- chibis; digital art (bases provided)
- species; digital sketches
- subspecies; sprites (pixel art)
- sidespecies; sprites (pixel art)
- items; sprites (pixel art)
- cbox icons; sprites (pixel art)
- legends; illustrations (any media)
Every piece of art that is added to the website is claimable in jaden, the site currency used to buy everything from rare items to unique species - a full 1000j per piece! Every artist who contributes, no matter their forum rank, if their art is used, can claim that amount. :D
Here is an explanation for each job that we official artists do:
Maps are the primary and secondary maps of each Realm and country, showing cities and landmarks, that is found in our Realms directory. They are done in a digital medium. An example of this type is found below:
God images, when new gods are added, are done in a speedpainterly style in a digital medium. They have a colored 'aura', usually done with a 'cloud' brush or airbrush, that either matches or accents the rest of the image. Style matching is a must. An example of this type is found below:
Our chibis are designed on premade bases of characters in our Player Groups; we currently have bases for dragons, humanoids, wolves, lions, and gryphons. They are done in a digital medium using the pre-existing bases. An example of this type is found below:
All species have sketches in a specific style done in a digital medium. Style matching is a must. An example of this type is found below:
Subspecies sprites are flatcolor, usually side-view images to show what a particular subspecies may look like. They must show the defining characteristics of the subspecies they're representing. An example of this type is found below:
Sidespecies sprites are done relatively quickly, and are dynamically-posed and roughly shaded. An example of this type is found below:
Item sprites will always have a small shop sprite, and sometimes a much larger sprite (such as an event item). An example of both these types are found below:
Cbox icons are 50 x 50 pixel art images made for the members to use in our cbox of their BTACD characters. A new position for BTACD artists! An example of this type is found below:
Legend illustrations can be anything from traditional sketches to full digital paintings, depending on what needs to be done. A new position for BTACD artists! An example of this type is found below:
If you want to be added to this group, please post below!! Your member group will be changed and you will gain access to the Website Worker subforum, as well as the art Discord channel. Whoo!
Thank you all, and happy arting!
I'd love to join in as an artist but atm I only have a sketchbook and pencil available to me. I could try with my tablet but I would have to practice a lot to get used to that.
