Malphas was far from home.

The Demon had left Kurai, and just... kept going. He didn't know where he was going, or why, but wanderlust had gripped him, and so he had listened. There were no ties keeping him in the Demon Realm, no one he had to inform that he was leaving. It had been ages since he'd just spread his wings and flew, no target in sight except the horizon.

It was, he thought, the smell of smoke that drew him, of burning wood. But it wasn't the smell of a campfire, or the burning of a fire inside of a house for warmth. It was the smell of fresh wood being burnt, sap being boiled, hair burning. So he angled his wings, finding himself approaching the Forest of Song. He'd been there before, once, when he was a child, but the Tree of Soul kept him away.

Narrowing his eyes, dark pupils surrounded by liquid gold narrowed into slits, beginning to gleam. Focusing in, he could make out smoke, and growing nearer, what looked like a large portion of the forest on fire, and it was growing dangerously close to the Tree. He muttered a few curses under his breath, seeing some animals trapped and unable to break free. While he couldn't care less about the Tree, he knew the animals depended on it. And so, he folded his wings and began to plummet, twisting at the last moment to land on his feet.

The Demon scowled, seeing a group of squirrels clinging high up in the boughs of a tree. Fire was beginning to climb the tree, and he was quick to act. He brought his hands up, and linked his fingers together, before pushing downwards as though to attempt to pop them. The fire seemed to move along with him, finally sizzling out of existance as his hands reached the end of their arc.

The squirrels chattered, and vanished, scattering before more fire could block their escape. Malphas flinched, feeling flames bite at his tail, and wrapped it around his leg, clothed in black leather, his chest bare. His wings flattened against his back, and he turned, bringing his hands up to begin to work on the rest of the flames.

The forest was a marvelous place. The Song Forest in particular was filled with the most incredible of flora and fauna. Which was exactly what kept pulling Wren to keep looking further into the woods. Today in particular, he was on the search for seeds. Not any type of seed in particular, just seeds. He was always eager to find new ones, he basically collected them, keeping tons in his room and many more on him in the pouch he had tied to his waist.

Seed searching had become a regular hobby for him, but this time he'd brought along his brother Cad. He wasn't too sure that Cad liked searching for seeds, but he certainly made good company.

They covered quite the distance, when Wren ran into a unique blue flower unlike anything he'd ever seen. He sprang to his feet in an instance, ready to tell Cad, but he quickly realized that his friend was missing. How long ago did they get separated? Was he okay? What was going on?

Questions buzzed through Wren's mind, until he began to smell smoke. There was no way it was a coincidence. Wren instantly jumped to the conclusion that Cad had started a fire somewhere. But where? Wren took a step back, and looked up into the sky. Not too far into the distance, he could see smoke. Where there was smoke, there was Cad, so he quickly got moving.

Cadell Flametouch had, admittedly, wandered away from his 'brother'. It wasn't that he didn't enjoy his company it was just... He had found fire. Not that he had started it, that wasn't his thing. Especially when he saw that the fire was wild, which he would never do. His cousin loved nature too much, and Cad couldn't bare the look of disappointment on Wren's face.

So when he reached it, Cadell immediately reached for his inheritance, his by birth. His eyes slowly growing to a bright red in color, Cad formed a tight fist before him, and just like that, he knew what he had to do. The fire obeyed his commands, the ones immediately before him slowly dying off, pushing towards the edge.

The half-elf walked forward, to get within range of the rest of the flames as he slowly put out that nearest to him, though thankfully this was an easy task, requiring little energy of the man as he began systematically trying to push the flames back.

Nearby a nameless, gray furred kitsune wandered through Song Forest and she stared at the vegetation as she walked past. The kitsune was making the vegetation move at her will to make a path for her to walk. While she strolled through the forest she smelled smoke and without hesitation changed course.

The kitsune eventually reached where the smoke originated from. It was from a fire and from where she stood the kitsune could see someone slowly walking towards the fire. The fire seemed to shy away from the individual. She watched from where she stood and did nothing, not knowing what he was doing.

Another flame died at the Demon's hands, and he grinned cockily. This was going well! Quite easy, especially for a fire-mag like himself. His black lion's tail flicked in a self-contented fashion, and he spread his wings wide. Still, he could smell fire in the air, and flapped them, taking off for the nearest fire.

He was unaware that he'd ended up so close to others, a pair of elves, and a kitsune. The kitsune was following the trail of fire, one of the elves beginning to put it out. The other was searching for said elf, approaching the fire. The Demon had landed just out of sight of them, although the sound of him landing was unable to be missed.

The light of the flames threw him into stark contrast, the gold of his eyes gleaming in the shadows. His wings spread wide, blocking wind from feeding the flames, and he brought up his hands, beginning to work his magic once more.

As Wren jogged forward, he found that the fire was further away than it seemed. It was crazy that Cad had gotten so far away without him noticing. Sure, nature was a huge distraction for him, but still, had he really gone that long without noticing. And why was there fire anyway. Cad wasn't so crazy that he'd just start burning trees for no reason. His thoughts quickly moved to the idea that Cad was in danger. It made a lot of sense actually. Why else would they have gotten so far away. And why else would there be fire. Cad wouldn't start fires on his own, but he could certainly be reckless, possibly enough so to throw fire around despite the forest.

Suddenly, Wren was broken from his thoughts by another figure coming into view. Cad? Er, no it wasn't. Who was this? And why were they here. They appeared to be a demon, and were holding a flame within their hands, clearly using some sort of magic. Immediately, it looked as if this demon was trying to burn the forest down. But Wren wasn't one to jump to conclusions. Instead he calmly looked at the demon and asked him his name. "Excuse me, but would you mind telling me your name and business in these woods?" This still didn't answer the reasoning behind his absent brother though...

Cadell heard the sound of something landing and stopped, pulling out his blade and holding it over the flames. They traveled over the metal, though didn't seem to injure it, and he walked forward, keeping his weapon away from plants.

It was a demon, and... And Warren. With little sound Cad moved forward to stand besides the one he called brother, "If it isn't obvious, I'd say he's the one who started this." He growled, eyes still a burning red color.

The kitsune tilted her head and stared blankly at the three before she walked over to them. The backs of the elven individuals to her. Silently she approached them and stood behind them, just a few feet away. Finally she announced her presence to the three in front of her.
"Hello," Tilts her head slightly as she speaks. "what are you all doing?" She asks them.

Over the crackling of fire, keen ears could make out the sound of approaching foosteps. The Demon did not allow it to draw his attention away, knowing that a lack of attention could send the fire spiraling out of control. He listened to the tall man's words, but didn't yet respond, instead beginning to push his hands downwards.

The flames did as he bid, sizzling and shrinking in size. Another showed up, accusing him of starting the flames, but he only looked up once the flames had flickered down into cinders, and then died down into nothing. Only then did he look up at the two (brothers, mayhaps?), one of which held a flaming blade.

"If thou art not careful, thou run the risk of undoing all that I have done," he rumbled quietly, the slightest hint of an accent adding a lilt to his words. "And I would not dare to harm this Forest. While the Tree of Souls may not appeal to one such as myself, that shall never mean that I would harm it. The beasts that call this forest home have done nothing to draw my ire." He huffed, before inclining his head to a Kitsune that had decided to show their face.

"Worry not, young fox. Myself and these two Elves art working to put out these flames."

A voice came from just the side of Wren, startling him for a second before he realized that it was Cad. As much as he was glad to see him, he was less impressed by his interruption. In hindsight, it made sense that this other person was the cause of the flames, if it wasn't Cad anyway. But still, it was important to hear someone's side of the story before blindly accusing them of being the enemy.

Just as he awaited an answer, there came yet another interruption from behind. This time a kitsune? Wren acknowledged the fox by moving to the side so that both the demon and kitsune would be in his view. But he never spoke a word to her, instead shifting his eyes to the demon who began to speak.

Wren watched calmly as the demon explained himself. It seemed that he was putting out the flames rather than creating them. There was some doubt as to how much the demon could be trusted, but Wren decided to accept it for the time being. Leaving two questions.

How did the fire start, and why was the kitsune there? His eyes quickly shifted to the fox to his right. "Am I to assume that you are only here to put out the flames as well? And that you also had nothing to do with the origins of these flames?"
