Welcome to this month's Monthly Contest! These MCs, as they are known, happen every non-holiday month, and are fun little events or contests that staff put up for you members to partake in. Whoo!
MC14: AUGUST RUSH!
Race time! You grin as your bonded dragon's confidence fills you - he lifts his wings, and you both are in the sky. Wings block out the sun as several others rise with you, bugling roars ringing loudly in your ears. The race begins!

Name: Mabuka, Mab
Race: Forest Kin Xeriin/Vampire
Appearance: Mabuka is an elderly rabbit xeriin with long, floppy, lapine ears that hang down to her shoulders, along with her long, silver hair. Her facial features are wizened by age, and she often has a cheerful smile on her face. Her posture is hunched by age, and she carries a walking stick she often leans heavily on when away from her home. She favors long, loose-fitting cloaks, regardless of weather.
Personality: Outwardly, she displays a facade of being a kind old lady, peddling baked goods, and various herbal remedies. However, beneath this apparently harmless exterior lies a dark, murderous heart. She has no qualms with satisfying her thirst for blood, ir with murdering anybody she feels she needs to. She enjoys hiding her true nature, and often takes advantage of how harmless she appears to be.
Skills/Abilities: Despite her appearance, she is extremely agile and athletic, having lost none of her xeriin a speed and agility. Her vampiric state gives her extreme strength and durability, tough skin, and a substantial healing factor. While she lacks magic, she can daze or disorient anybody who locks eyes with her through sheer force of will.
Weaknesses/Flaws: Powerful light or fire magics can inflict serious injuries upon her. Also, due to her typical lifestyle, she is forced to take great care to uphold her masquerade, waiting for opportune moments to strike. She also possesses no defense from magic, aside from her natural speed and resilience.

Race: Snakekind; Zakura (Empyrean)
Appearance: A sizable example of a zakura serpent, Grote is roughly ten feet in length, with long, spindly looking arms tipped with long, sharp talons, and and covered in murky-looking metal scales. His black eyes are set within armored sockets.
Personality: Cold, calculating, and clinical in his approach to both interactions with others and his own personal endeavors. He tends to address himself out loud when pondering things, and displays little emotion, aside from the occasional snide remarks directed towards subjects of his observations, and the much less common compliment. He has a keen interest bordering on an obsession with how creatures work inside, and how they might be made better. To that end, he is willing to capture specimens for further study and experimentation. He holds little respect for any who he views as beneath his own considerable intellect.
Skills/Abilities: Empyrean that he is, Grote is considerably stronger and much more resilient than the typical zakura serpent. His metal scales grant him a very strong armor, which he can solidify into one piece, rendering him immobile, but increasing the protection it offers by a large degree. A number of long, sharp spikes can be extended from the metal scales, allowing him to anchor himself to steep, smooth surfaces, and the end of his long, slender tail can split four ways, allowing himself to hang from a ceiling sturdy enough to support his weight. His empyrean nature makes him largely immune to toxins and diseases.
Along with the natural zakura venom present within his metal-coated fangs, he can use his reiatsu to inflict a painful, numbing shock to those who come within his range. Long enough exposure to this shocking effect can leave the victim stunned and unable to move for a long while.
He has undertaken extensive study in alchemy, particularly along the lines of transfiguring flesh, using his knowledge to mold creatures into new shapes to fit his whims.
Weaknesses/Flaws: His metal body is heavy, making him slower and less agile than a normal zakura serpent would be. Metal scales restrict his sense of touch, and his tendency to get engrossed in his own thoughts can leave him lacking in awareness of his surroundings.
History: Groteslang was never one to conform to his species' general tendency to view itself as superior to all others. In his eyes, most of his fellows were too lacking in intelligence to count as superior to anything. He took to a life of solitude, engaging in studies of other creatures to better understand their strengths and weaknesses.
One weakness he found in himself was his own mortality. Feeling it would be a waste of his own intellect to die, he sought a way to overcome this flaw, eventually discovering the Empyrean way, and undergoing the process of becoming one of them himself. Afterward, he resumed his studies, no longer concerned with mortality.
Now, he has time to further his own studies, and potentially seek out those who might share in his vision. Or, possibly, find one who's own vision he might admire.

Race: Myth-Kin Xeriin
Appearance: A slender xeriin child who takes after a kamine. His gleaming red eyes are often lacking on focus, as if staring at something only he can see, whenever he isn't specifically focused on somebody or something else. In humanoid form, his canine ears are bright red, as is the tip of his tail, and claws on his feet. His hair, and the light covering of fur on his legs, is pure white. His skin is on the pale side. Black circles of fur mark his ankles, and halfway down his tail. White, leathery wings, tipped with black on the edges, and red on the joints, grow from his back.
In kamine form, his markings remain the same, and he gains a covering of thick, white fur over his entire body, with additional black growth of fur around his wrists, on his elbows, and on his shoulders and hips. A bright red streak of fur extends down his spine, starting at the base of his skill and ending at the base of his tail. A bright red flash of fur marks his chest. Two long, slightly-curved horns adorn his head.
While under the influence of his Demon Reaper soul, the black and white colors of his fur change color, his fur grows coarser and shaggier, his claws grow longer, and a row or sharp, red spines sprout from his spine.
Personality: Zelimir is often quiet and subdued, and often speaks to his inner Demon Reaper soul as if it were an imaginary friend, which sometimes makes people mistake it for just that. He finds it difficult to trust, or to fully open up to anybody. He often warns people who are close to angering him that Hansuki won't be happy, divorcing him from any sense of regret if his Demon Reaper comes out and attacks them, reinforced by the fact that his consciousness fades as the Reaper soul awakens. Whether in humanoid or animal form, he carries a wooden top with him, his only remaining memento of his parents, and happier days.
Skills/Abilities: He possesses power over water, and is currently able to manipulate small amounts of it as he pleases, and sense changes in weather. When surrendered to his inner Demon Reaper, Hansuki, his power grows exponentially, to the point where water becomes a weapon in his hands, he can manipulate the weather, and use potent blood magic to strike at his foes.
Weaknesses/Flaws: He is still quite young, and inexperienced. And, while his Demon Reaper form is powerful, it can only sustain itself for a limited time before wearing out, requiring him to rest before it can be used again.
History: Born on Xaeri to parents from different Kin-types, specifically Sky and Forest, Zelimir was passed off as a Forest Kin child, and for a time, the ruse worked. However, when he began to grow wings, and other traits that marked him as Myth-Kin. His parents fled with hm into the wilderness, but were eventually discovered, and killed.
Zelimir managed to escape, and fled Xaeri via portal, relying on his instincts, and what his parents taught him, to survive. Not long after, he realized the Demon Reaper soul his mother once carried had passed to him when she died.

Appearance: In his more commonly used humanoid form, Shiro-Mayu appears to be a man of indeterminate age, with a long white beard, and bushy, up-swept eyebrows. Regardless of the weather, he wears simple but well-made clothing consisting of white trousers and shirt, and a sleeveless black and white robe split down the sides where it falls below the waist to allow for ease of movement. A black sash acts as a belt, and his long, white hair is tied up in a topknot and secured by a silver hair pin. Simple black shoes adorn his feet.
His less frequently used dragon form is long and sinuous, distinctly Eastern in build. He retains the long beard and eyebrows he has in his humanoid form, and sports a long, white mane. His scales are black and white, gleaming like ebony and marble, arranged in intricate patterns.
Personality: Shiro-Mayu is extremely confident in his own abilities, and often abrasive towards those who have yet to earn any measure of respect from him. He has an immensely developed sense of self-discipline. He tends to live alone in remote locations, with only the most simple of lodgings.
Towards those who manage to convince him of their worthiness to receive his personal training, he is an exceptionally harsh, cruel taskmaster, frequently assigning them to physically demanding, often painful exercises in order to strengthen them, or drive them away if they are lacking in willpower.
He is intolerant of sass or insult, and will injure or even kill any who display either toward him without remorse.
Skills/Abilities: He is an extremely skilled, powerful martial artist, relying primarily on his total mastery of unarmed combat in fights, though he is extremely skilled with many weapons as well. He is very strong, fast, and agile, and uses his reiatsu to boot his physical abilities. This reiatsu also makes him highly resilient to injury, to the point where he can resist being injured by typical weapons.
Weaknesses/Flaws: His arrogance can lead him to dismiss potential danger to himself, and he lacks any ranged magic or abilities. His War demon heritage requires him to drink blood periodically.
