PLAYERS INVOLVED: Zverin, Fyfergund, open...
SETTING: Myr Lake, East of Repentance Desert
WEATHER: Mostly cloudy, sunny, warm despite being Autumn because of the location (desert).
TIME: Current, noon.
CHARACTERS INVOLVED: Zverin, Syndarra, open...

It had been a very long time since he walked in these lands. The desert hadn't changed but the scents were different. He imagined that as soon as he reached the settlements things will be very different. Everything changed, all the time. But it was supposed to be a good thing. Even he changed. He wasn't even sure why he came here. He knew there were other lions here but it wasn't like he was looking for someone. He was a rogue, a loner, a nomad. He liked to be neutral and live on his own, unattached and free of any responsibility, always traveling and looking for new things.

His heterochromic eyes looked at the sky. There were clouds covering the sun so it wasn't excessively hot. It was pleasantly warm with a nice wind ruffling his mane every now and then. He liked the soft sand under his paws. In fact... He smirked and stretched his arms to the front to lay down, clawing at the sand slightly. He nuzzled against the sand and rolled over, bathing himself with it letting out a soft grunt. He laid on his side for some time, simply enjoying his calmed life as much as it could endure. His long tail waved behind him leaving snake marks on the sand. The sun appeared once again as the clouds moved and he closed his eyes. Taking a deep breaths he rolled to his belly before standing on his fours paws again. Zverin shook his fur sending sand flying around him and continued walking.

A few minutes later he saw the Myr Lake at the distance. There it was. It was a bigger than what he remembered. He had been walking for a long time in the desert and the sweet water looked just perfect right now. Walking closer to the edge he stopped and looked around with narrowed eyes for quite a while. He couldn't allow himself getting surprised by someone as he was having a drink. It might be his nerves but he had been hearing something for quite a while now. He leaned down and started drinking, licking his lips and whiskers before taking a few more sips. His ears moving back and forth at any sound he could hear, his eyes straight forward at the distance. He would like to stay here longer but he was too exposed. There were no trees or bushes near. Just sand and water.

Syndarra was beginning to wonder why she had ever entered the desert in the first place. The heat didn't bother her a bit, since she could withstand far hotter things. Nor did she care too much that there wasn't much by way of cover around. Few creatures cared for being set on fire, and fewer still would dare hunt one of her kind.

It was the water situation that irked her. Only the nearby lake offered relief from her thirst, and she was reluctant to even go near it.

Still, her thirst compelled her towards the water. She paused when an errant breeze carried a moist puff of air her way, and bared her fangs at it in irritation, hissing at the offending lake, too given to irritable anger to notice the large lion not far away. She scowled at the serene water, then hesitantly approached, pausing as far from the water's edge as she could, and stretching her neck out as far as he could reach, before drinking.

At once, a sharp sizzling sound broke the tranquility as some of the water she drank turned to steam as it met the burning fire within her. This she paid no heed as she satisfied her thirst, then drew back from the water's edge rather swiftly with a low snarl. It was only then that she noticed the large lion, and she started, caught by surprise, which only served to make her more agitated. Her gleaming eyes were fixed upon him as her body tensed, waiting to see his reaction.

The second he heard that hiss he stopped drinking and looked at the direction of the sound. He narrowed his eyes when an ash and red figure appeared inching closer to both the lake and him. Taking a deep intake of breath he inhaled the scent of his companion. Her, actually. A lioness.

He straightened himself and stood tall in his spot. He didn't take a step closer or looked away the entire time she drank. As she did thou, he watched and analyzed her. She was about 20 feet away from him, making her such an easy traget. Was she really ignoring him or was she oblivious of his presence? If she was the latest, she really had to be more careful. She seemed strong but also confident, and there were creatures a lot stronger than them.

He confirmed his suspicion when she finished her drink and finally noticed him. He had to stop himself from smirking at such a display before him. He could have easily attacked her when she was drinking or even before that. Not that he would have won or left without any injuries but he couldn't understand how she could be so distracted. His body posture seemed relaxed to not provoke her but his muscles where tensed and ready for any sudden movement she would dare to make against him. The way she seemed so tensed and nervous, maybe even angered, made him know she was young, more than him at least. It made him wonder if she was of these lands or just another rogue like him.

She was quite interesting as well, at least physically. A fire bender. The way she neared the lake before made him realize her disgust, and also an advantage on his side if they were to fight. Water was her weakness. He didn't want to fight, he was too content for that right now, but he never backed down from a battle. If she started it he would gladly finish it.

As a few minutes passed and they just kept staring at each other he finally moved. His long scaled tail lowered to the sand and rested there as he relaxed a bit more. He wasn't one to talk much or initiate a conversation but he didn't feel the want to leave either. Slowly he lowered his butt as well and sat down. It was interesting how she had the same long upper fangs he did. He hadn't met other vystrian lions with saber fangs. The spines along her column made him wonder if they hid another weapon like venom. They looked a bit like his exposed vertebral spines.

It had been a long two years, once a talented and skilled thief with the fall of Albronel and the invasion from the Faction of Felnova his prospects had not been great. For a while, he had taken to trying and steal things from the Faction, mostly supplies and other things of value on the black market. But all that had happened was that now he was a wanted gryphon and was now forced to hide out in the desert robbing a few passing caravans.

With a sigh, Garvan spread his wings to better sun them as he lounged by the cool water's edge. Life, he mused just wasn't as it used to be. It was then that he heard the soft crunch of sand belieth paws and when he opened up his eyes he saw a massive and heavily scared Vystrian lion-like creature approaching the water. Not wishing to get mixed up with anything with that many scars he settled further into the sand and bent the light around himself so that he was all but invisible as he hoped that the scared lion hybrid would drink and leave.

But as he watched another appeared on his other side, this one looked female and was definitely a pure Vystrian lion. Worried that they would see his shadow as it stretched along the ground he sent a silent prayer that maybe there would overlook one invisible gryphon.

Syndarra remained where she was, not moving to instigate a more violent confrontation, or to retreat. Her jaws did part slightly, revealing a fiery glow from within her throat, but not baring her fangs in a full threat. Like the scarred lion, she didn't intend to start a fight, but she was perfectly willing to defend herself.

But, as the scarred lion slowly relaxed, so too did Syndarra. Still too agitated to fully relax, she remained on her feet, though she was no longer tensed up. Her fiery eyes regarded the scarred lion intently, noting his odd appearance. He was unlike any she had ever seen before. Since he was apparently alone out here, she was willing to assume he was a rogue, but his relaxed demeanor could just as easily mean he was in his own domain.

"Do you lay claim to these lands?" she asked, glancing around at their surroundings in emphasis, unaware of the nearby gryphon's presence.

Zverin tilted his head when she opened her jaws, that red and orange glow making him tilt his head to the side curiously. He wondered what where the extent of her powers. She was still a bit tensed, never taking her eyes off him as she stood there unmoving.

His eyes never stopped analyzing her. He couldn't help it. He learned to take as much information as he could by just looking. As a lion he had a better sight than hearing but his reptile side gave him a high sense of smell and taste. He leaned quite a lot by just looking and smelling and he was already learning about her. He was waiting to see if she was the one starting something. What? He had yet to know. He was patient enough to allow her give the first step, either to start something or just leave, but she seemed to be as curious as he was about her.

Then it happened. She spoke revealing a soft but confident voice. Her words made him reveal a mischievous smirk before he replied. His own voice was rogh and deep, but just as relaxed as his body language, his words tinted with some amusement. "Is that an invitation?" That meant she didn't form part of the pride rulling the area. Even with his reply he didn't intend on taking over the land. No matter how good he was fighting he wouldn't be able to take down a whole pride by himself. Not that he cared to be part of one either. He liked his independence and he didn't want to be responsible of others. It was a heavy weight to have the life of others on your shoulders.

"I don't own any land, nor I want to. I don't stay in a single place either, much like you." He had been kicked out of some territories in the past even if he meant no threat to the ones that claimed that piece of land. He was just passing by yet some creatures believed they had more rights above others. He knew she traveled a lot by just looking at her body. She was in perfect shape. Thin but muscled revealing long hours of traveling.

A strong breeze blew around them, moving his mane from one side to the other. The air suddenly felt heavier and filled with energy, making the hairs of his upped back lift. He looked to the sky and noticed the strange clouds moving closer to their position. An energy storm. He had been inside many along the centuries, some small, others as strong that you felt difficulty to breath. You never knew how charged the storm was until you were in the middle of it. But it wasn't like you could escape them anyway. They moved fast and sometimes it was better to just stay where you where and let it pass.

He also felt something else in that breeze. The wind brought a new scent to his nose and he quickly scanned the area. One thing he hated were surprises and this scent didn't belong to the female in front of him, but it was close. Too close for his liking when he couldn't see where it came from. It wasn't the shadow of the creature he noticed since the sun was gone due to the coming storm, but how the sand piled up slowly with the wind at the left side of the female.

He narrowed his eyes and stood up again, turning his attention back to the lioness. He smirked again and walked slowly to her left, showing oblivious to the hidden creature but walking closer to it with every step. "I replied to your question, I will ask you one as well." He grinned softly showing his white teeth before speaking again. "What is your name?" Stoping a few feet away from her he kept his attention to both her and the invisible one now right in front of him. If he or her where to try anything he was prepared and close enough to attack. He wondered if that creature and the female where together and if it was protecting her, or if it was just casually here just like them both. He would find answers sooner or later.

As the two lions stared at each other Garvan noticed a slight change in the wind, a greasy feel run along his feathers. It was an energy storm and by the feel of it a big one.

A stiff wind started up and the sand along the shore started to sweep along and sting his side. Eyeing the storm and the two lions that he was stuck between, Garvan wasn't sure which he needed to worry about more.

It was then that the male lion stood up and moved in closer until he was right in front of Garvan. It was at that moment that the first flash of the storm hit further along the shore, sending a spike of ice rising from the sand like a giant frozen stalagmite.

Letting go of his invisibility Garvan rose and looking at the two lions said,"I was here first and if you lot wish to stay out in this, that is cool by me, but I am getting out of here!"

With that, he turned and sprinted off to the nearest dune, pausing for just long enough to look at the two lions and with a flick of his tail added, "I guess if so inclined you may hide here with me." before ducking into the cave that he had dug himself. Shortly after the first week, he had spent in the area he had found out that under this dune was a small outcrop of rock and he had set about digging a fair sized cave for himself, the thick stone supporting the sand above.

Ducking into the cave he slipped right into the back where he knew that he would be, hopefully, safe for the duration of the storm.

Glad that the scarred lion was apparently content to coexist, and laid no claim to the lake and its surroundings, Syndarra shrugged slightly as the big male spoke. Had he laid claim to any territory, she may have been tempted to offer her services, if he proved to be worth following.

"Caution. Deliberately provoking an entire pride isn't wise," she stated. But, before she could say more, she caught the same sense of energy-charged air blow over her. She gazed skyward, and hissed in irritation. Perhaps she had returned to Felnova too soon. It seemed things were still not back to normal. Then, when the lion spoke again, and approached her, she watched him in mildly wary curiosity.

"You wish me to give you my name, but withhold yours?" she asked, smirking slightly before shrugging again. "But, you are right. You did answer my question. Syndarra." As he approached, it wouldn't be long before he'd feel the heat pouring from her body, even through the warmth of the desert.

She snarled in sudden anger when the gryphon abruptly appeared right beside the two of them, then stared in irritated surprise as he raced across the sand, pausing briefly to invite them to join him in shelter from the energy storm, which was rapidly getting closer. Her eyes fixed upon the ice spike rising from the ground, teeth baring in an involuntary snarl as she tensed up again.

She offered the scarred lion a short nod, then padded quickly across the sand, and peered into the cave. She took one last gaze at the growing storm, then ducked inside, immediately warming up the interior with her mere presence.

He smirked at her words and moved his tail slowly behind him. "What gave you the impression I'm wise or not?" He could only guess that she was alone, pretty much like him, and wondered what was she doing here. If she was just passing by like him or if she was looking for something.

He smirked again when she said he was withholding his name, when the truth was that he was only waiting for her to say hers to then share the same information to her. Syndarra. Interesting. He was about to give out his own when suddenly a lighting hit the sand creating a spike of glass and the hiden creature made its appearence. A griphon. He growled lowly and crouched down prepared to attack, annoyed he dared to hide at plain sight.

He watched angrily at the bird that left running to a dune. Weakling, he thought as he then turned and told them their could hide with him. Zverin snorted offended at such an offer. He could endure the company of one but two? Especially from one who couldn't even face them properly and decided to hide.

His eyes glanced at the lioness as she walked after the gryphon. He growled slightly at her confidence and stared at her back until she disappeared into the cave. Unbelievable. She just slipped inside there with a gryphon she knew nothing about. He looked around and padded slowly towards the entrance of the cave. He growled again baring his fangs before walking a few feet away from it. He looked at the sky once more before laying down on the sand, not wanting to enter the cave.

Garvan noted the heat before anything else, thinking for a second that the storm above had struck again but only to bring fire this time he was quite glad to note that the head was, in fact, coming from the Lioness who had just entered his glittering cave.

Garvan looked about and made a mental note of where every piece of his hoard lay, offering shelter was one thing, trusting another with his hoard was something else entirely. As he looked about at the assembled pieces of gold and other precious metals he felt a feeling of peace and pleasure at the sight. It had not been easy to amass the hoard in the current clime, however, had managed and he was proud of that fact.

Moving over to make more room for the Lioness he cleared his throat and said, "I am sorry if I gave you a start, I had just been sunning myself when the Scarred one arrived and not knowing his intentions I had thought it best to just vanish and stay out of the way... but fate seemed against that idea." Here he paused and blinked at the Lioness before him, the heat radiation off her almost as strong as that of the hottest days in the Desert. "I am Garvan by the way, I believe you said your name was Syndarra?"

Jauncoa sprinted across the sand, her body so low to the ground that her belly nearly grazed the grains below her. Her fur was caked with sand, so much that she looked like a creature of the desert. She was a grey blur across the beige earth, her collar of smokey quartz dazzling in the disappearing light. She had never witnessed this strange kind of storm before and it worried her. Would it effect the properties of her amulet? The collar helped her survive longer in the presence of light and without it she'd succumb to the claws of the light disease that turned her into a savage, chaotic beast.

She stopped abruptly at the small body of water, sniffing it for the scent of potential foes or friends, and when she was satisfied she dipped her dark head into the water halfway and sucked up the water in small gulps.

Her head snapped up. She twisted around at the sound of a creature, or more than one creature, nearby. She could see that something was heading toward some sort of hiding place. Maybe the storm was dangerous and she should follow them. She rested one hand in the water and wiped it on her face. Enjoying the coolness she leapt right into the pool was soft splash. She stayed underwater for a few short seconds and then climbed out, shaking her body until she was mostly dry. Now she looked more like herself. She pawed at the ground and stared up at the sky.

Then she raced across the sand, her light grey fur making her resemble blurred furry snake as she flew across the ground. She went in a large arc around where she knew the creatures were so she wouldn't be seen. Even if they could feel her presence they probably couldn't see her. She lay on the ground in crouched position, watching from afar. They seemed to be considering going into the hiding place but one creature was kind of blocking the entrance. She lifted her ears high up to hear better, twitching them to hone on the right sounds. None of them seem to know each other so hopefully she could use this to her advantage and her presence wouldn't be much of a surprise.

None of them seemed to be a threat to Jauncoa except the lioness. She had heat radiating from her body that even she could feel from where she lay. Jauncoa lifted her haunches up. In a pre-pounce position, mostly out of anxiety. She perked her ears again and the crawled toward where they were, letting herself be seen. She looked like a very strange otherworldly dog with her protective collar on. She gazed over at the one in front of his cave and mimicked someone the words he had said in an almost perfect way. Then she pointed towards the cave with one claw and swiveled her ears around.
